Why You Should Learn To Switch Off (And 3 Tips To Help You Do It)

Many entrepreneurs are high achievers. The drive to success seems to go hand-in-hand with the desire to achieve results and in my experience, the two often go together.

There are downsides, though, to being a serial overachiever — despite how the term might make it sound!

“I am so fed up of waking up stressed.”

These are the words of one of my clients.

😴 Tired of working all the hours in the day

😴 Tired of doing everything their biz needed by themselves

😴 Tired of never being able to get downtime

This constant level of stress leads to one thing: burnout.

I’ve spoken about my own experience with burnout before.

And it’s because of my experience with burnout that I want to help other busy entrepreneurs stop it in its tracks.

How do you do that? You need to learn to switch off

Easier said than done? Here are my 3 tips for switching off from work.

Brain ‘dump’

One of the things that stop us from being able to switch off is the volume of thoughts running through our mind when we’re not actively working.

This is your brain’s protective nature trying to make sure you don’t forget anything.

You need to give your brain a helping hand. And the best way is to write down everything you have running through your mind at the end of the workday.

👉 No need to organise it.

👉 No need to schedule anything.

👉 No need to categorise anything.

Just get it all out on paper. Tell your brain “I’ve got this” and then you can spend the rest of your night without worrying.

Schedule in self-care

Self-care is different for everyone.

For me? It’s creating time for long baths, hair appointments and facials.

For you it might be taking a walk in nature, reading a book or visiting a museum.

Whatever works for you, make sure to create space for it in your week.

You wouldn’t constantly drive a car at 100mph and expect it to run perfectly day after day, week after week.

Don’t expect the same from your body.

Get help

“Sure Selina… these all sound like great ideas but where am I meant to find the time?”

You can’t do everything yourself.

Bringing in the right help will transform your business.

What do I mean by the right help?

✔ Someone who can come in and hit the ground running

✔ Someone with executive skills to work with effective systems and processes

✔ Someone who can be the support you need to grow your business

Sounds good, right?

You can get that kind of help for your business when you bring in a Selina & Co. elite VA.
